As the title says really, I don't have the skills to make these myself but don't want to pay the £200+ I see on fleabag

I am after a HD rear discovery bumper...not overly concerned if it is the tubular type, box section, or styled like the original but HEavy duty...

What I guess is important is that it has built in recovery points and is well built

I am also looking for a tank guard with removable tow bar drop plate...again not keen on paying the £200 ish I have seen them on fleabag for

Any help or pointers to sales will be great fully received !

Thanks
:D

You don't want much do you

Have you seen the price of steel ?
Do you know how long it takes to build a bumper ?

I can make you one up £180

bumpers a piece of **** on a disco. length of tubing or box section short piece of flat plate and 2 small brackets 20 minutes with a welder and the jobs done.

tankguards are a bastid to do though.. :D

Mmm conflicting views on the bumper then lol.....you got any pictures 300tdistu of the type of bumper you would build ?

Redhand, what sort of price could you knock me 1 up for .

I have knocked both of the plastic corners off my bumper and it's definitely past it's best so keen to fit something else..

I do get your point regarding the tank guard being a bitch to build though, just thought I would ask if anyone had one lying around that they needing taking off there hands for a few quid !!!

Cheers anyway will keep looking !

I don't "build" bumpers I buy em off ebay but I have a tubular bumper on the back of me disco and it is as said just a length of tube with a flat plate welded to it an bolted to the Towhitch holes in the chassis. with additional small brackets to fasten to the bumper mounting points.

Anyone who says that's complicated or difficult to do is a bull ****ter. However if you want an HD version of a std bumper. That's a whole noo ball game.

Ah ok no worries Redhand I will keep looking...I do quite like the tubular bumpers but can't currently find any on eBay....

I actually have my own welder that my son & I went halves on last year but he never uses it and I have never even switched it on....I am going to have to give it a go I reckon and see what I can manage to stick together !!!!

Yeah if he's looking around £200 I guess it could be a standard looking HD rather than a bog standard girder or tubular.

Problem is getting the standard looking one set up for the end caps as theres a few different angles in there as well as getting the height to look right so it blends in.

However from there its a whole new ball park as far as price goes……especially if you want something like this

I was looking at making HD ones like the standerd bumper

Mostly been building winch bumpers, but I need a new bumper for the rear of my disco so I'm going to build my bumper, then a few more :D

I pondered doing the same, and even got as far as making a metal template for the return on the corners. But that was as far as I got
Still got the template somewhere.

That is one serious, multi-functional bumper.

It was on my todo list, might still have the CAD rendering somewhere however some rocksliders are currently in the design process

Thinking 5mm box, turned and tig welded screw thread inserts for mounting so they sit flush with a facia plate on top, turned cylindrical jacking points at either end and mounts with a bolt in section that mounted onto a second half welded to the chassis rail

Not really, the bumper is angled upwards in the picture even if it does protrude out a little more than the original

As far as I can tell anyway its more of an overland bumper rather than a full offroad one
