True, but ok if you keep your eye on it. On my ARB bumper rollers are the only way to go.

i agree and thats the plan from now on

The problem with rollers and synth is that if there's a slack spot, the rope drops and can get pulled into the gaps Between the rollers. There's hardly an issue at all when tension's on, it's when it's not that there needs to be a close eye kept on it.

If the button man is good/fast and stops reeling in when tension releases and the rope drops it's not a problem .. Another problem comes when you let monkeys retrieve line for you, good-hearted monkeys maybe, but they don't care for your kit as much as you do ... let them keep tension while you wind on!

Thats bad winching practice and shouldn't happen even more so with synth that cannot take shock loadings

Heheh, you should see some of the monkey 'recovery stewards' at Frickley ..... well, a couple of years ago. They may have learned some more tricks by now.
