morning all,

just bought a eas lead for my hawkeye, but unless someone knows better i have to say im alittle dissapointed.

i have a couple of questions as i dont seem to be able to find any user manual anywhere on web as to what all the info means in the sub menus.

firstly what does transportation, and high lock mode mean?
secondly am i right in thinking that you cannot completly decompress the system for maintenence,
and thirdly there is a funtion for calibration, but it seems you can only use the pre installed settings, i presume.
any info greatly appreciated.

Don't know a lot about Hawkeye other than compared to a Nanocom it falls very short of useful. Transportation is the mode the suspension is set in before being put on a transporter, so that height changes do not take place automatically if engine is run. High lock mode is when suspension is set to wade height and height changes do not happen automatically same as transportation when doors are opened or engine is started and doors shut. No self levelling. Basically it is set to either height and BECM switches off delay relay isolating ECU.

thanx wammers, it seems that the rsw solutions frree software and £12 lead do more, as thats what i have been using until my lead recently broke, hence buying the hawkeye lead, only real plus is that its portable compared to carrying a laptop around when at far away places.

think im gonna point this out to bearmach via email in the morning.

Don't use calibration on Hawkeye - it will reset all height settings to emergency values, which are very odd and high.
It's pretty much useless device on P38.

Slightly different experience. I'm actually very pleased with Hawkeye given the price. Bitter experience with RSW, connection was hit and miss and I'm one of the few mugs who signed up in advance for his full P38 package which he never actually finished.

Wammers has explained transportation and high lock.

You can decompress the system by forcing valves open in the system or manually as I do, pulling airhose out of each airbag and tank. Its great way to check o rings and collets while I'm there.

Diagnosing EAS faults and resetting heights to default count is all you should need 90% of the time. Only if the count calibration has gone awry will you need a system to allow you to change the target counts according to physical height. So yes, the 10% of the time that happens your Hawkeye won't be the right tool.
