My mates disco died on his drive the other day, so he took the injector pulley cover off and it wasn't turning when he cranked it over,

So yeah here you go ...

Ooh dear ... Haha but we've rebuilt it with a new rocker arm as every arm was snapped, new pushrods as everyone was bent and now it all runs fine :)

Happy days !

That crank drive gear is a cheap replacement part !! I've changed a few ! The outer ring that should keep the belt aligned is thin tin , spot welded on !!the original drive gear has a thick machined edge and it can't come off, wear to a sharp edge , #### the belt up !! Don't use cheap parts here !! Get a propper part !!!!!!!

And it's gone again !! This time in town at 2 in the morning ! :( was running perfectly no problems and ten just died, rocker isn't moving when cranked over so definitely timing belt again ! There's gotta be something out of line somewhere to cause them to break the last one was only changed a month ago and this one lasted 5 hours ?

When he first got the engine it had a knew belt on it but that lasted a week as the idler pulley was loose and wobbling around so we changed it and that one lasted a month, and now a day, my idea is that the shaft the idler pulley sits on is bent and so pushes the belt forwards onto the gear and rips it apart

Any better ideas ?

Are the other pulleys all ok.like fuel pump, the bearing surface worn out making it slack and wobble about. Same for camshaft. Did you replace the tensioner and idler aswell?
