Hi

I have a 1995 P38 4.6 HSE (gas converted). Today I have changed the batteries one of my key fobs as a message about low battery key fob had come up. Now the engine is disabled and neither fob is working even though before I changed the battery in one of them they both worked fine.

I did the EKA code and door opened and vehicle started straight away. turned vehicle off and now key fob will not work at all, and engine disabled message coming up. I have tried numerous sync key fob methods like leaving key in door turn and press button etc, yet nothing is happening.

Any more suggestions please

To sync on my 1995 I do the following:

  • The car must not be alarmed and the doors unlocked.
  • Press the lock button on the remote
  • Lock using the key
  • Synced!
I don't know if that helps or if you've already done it, but thats the way I do it and it's worked every time.

Hi
Thanks have just tried that and it hasn't worked :-(

Also I forgot to mention the central locking is working off the key, just when you go to start it says engine disabled

I had something similar after reconnecting the battery once. Had the engine disabled message but the car would unlock with the key, and entering the EKA code didn't help. In the end I locked the car with the key fob, then unlocked the door with the key which triggered the alarm. I then hit the unlock button on the key fob and it stopped the alarm and I was able to start the car.

Just a thought, have you got the RF receiver arial wire disconnected and if so try remote synch with it connected.

Mine is a year 2000 model but the following worked for me.
Put key in drivers door lock.
Press and hold lock button
Turn key to lock position (Towards rear of car on right hand drive vehicles)
Release button and turn to 12 o’clock position
Press and hold unlock button
Turn key to unlock position (Towards front of car on right hand drive vehicles)
Release button
Remove key
Done

If your door lock switch is knackered then you won't be able to sync because you can't lock the door whilst holding the lock button on the fob.

Try putting key in ignition turn to possition 1 press eather button on fob
I get that often about 1-2 a week and thats how it works for me on a 98 dse
Proper paniced first time it happend dont even think about it now

Your becm sounds like it has alarmed.
If all four doors are unlocking but still the engine immobilised message is appearing then you might want to remove the drivers door lock mechanism & strip down, clean/service & if there's still no joy, remove your becm & send it off.
Our workshop can sort that out for you if needed.
