Hi. After seven years I have a 'green oval' on the drive again, having chopped in my remapped astra estate for a low mileage Freelander 1 this week. Vehicle is facelifted 55 plate TD4 adventurer manual. I don't do a great mileage in a year, probably less than 4000, but I do tow a lightweight 1100kg caravan about three times a year.
I know there are lots of threads about the 2a model, but wondered if anyone has fitted the cheaper RonBox 1 model, which is on offer at less than £100 now. Essentially just looking for a bit more power on the rare occasions it will be towing, or nipping into traffic flows when solo. I asked my insurance company about one and they are cool about it, once I explained the beemer mill in the TD4 is detuned by LR.
Specific to the Freelander 1 TD4 where do these tuning boxes fit and how long do they take to fit. Would rather hear from someone that has done it, rather than what the manufacturers say. Having owned Landies from 1962 series 2a, through Rangies and Discoveries I have learned to be handy with the spanners, but tuning boxes are a new thing for me. Not looking to do remap, just a tuning box.
All input is welcome.
