Has anyone actually cured death wobble properly?

As per my project thread, I’m trying to rid my Disco 200tdi of death wobble.

Done lots of searching on forum, so far I’ve done...
New tyres all round
New balljoints
New steering damper
Reconditioned steering box
One side swivel (passenger side as it seemed hitting bumps on this side made it start wobbling)
Wheels balanced and rebalanced
Panhard rod bushes

What next? Swivels in other side would be logical start I suppose. Who has actually fixed it and how?!

What tyres do you have on? Have you checked they are balanced properly? Ie. what they call a 3d balance, with weight on the inside and outside rim if required?

200tdi disco's dont have a prop dungnut hence a good mod for the 300tdi was to
fit the 4 bolt flange from a 200tdi. ;)

I assume you’re including the prop in that as well as the diff flange. Of course the 300series with a V8 engine also has the four bolt prop. :)

Not a lot :( There wasn’t that many even when D1s where in the showrooms.
And to add, I haven’t seen another D1 on the road this year even after a 170mile return blast to deepest Surrey, and D2 s are now rare in my part of the world.

There are a a few discos kicking about here 4 or 5 D2s an 1 D1 also there is an off road place
near us & I see loads of kitted out landys every now an then good to see
I went to oban on friday I must have seen 20+ fully kitted out defenders & 1 J**P not one
disco :( The D1s will soon be a v-rare beast to see on the road.

My old girl will be back on the road before winter,, it’s totally stripped and getting ready for a full repaint,
Luckily it’s a labour of love because their is no way I would have done this much work on a customers car when I was in the trade,:)

I find the best way to solve these things is sell it and buy a vehicle that doesnt wobble at speed :D

Theres a few d1s around my area. I even followed a very shiny standard original looking v8 d1 the other day. I pulled out behind him and as I accelerated I though oh no whats that burning oil smell. I was relieved to realise it was the v8 and not my fugly beast of a 300tdi.

So there's 2 left, Stan has one & my mate has one. I nearly had one but minus the lump :(
They are fri ggin rare beasts, as I wanted a manual with lpg. But patience paid off and I got one that had belonged to a welder who had done all the usual stuff, sills etc. Result!
