Thanks ron, what mt's are you looking at and i take it you do a little more off road work to go straight onto mt's?
Ive put 764 bighorns on. They are pretty quiet for an MT and are not too aggressive. I found my Insa Dakars too aggressive for every day use. I ran the Maxxis Bravos on my old 300tdi. They were great all around, just lacking in mud again. I found the noise fine. I need to stop buying tyres....

A second set is the best way, then I can fit some knobbly insa's but I don't want to swap the buggers everytime we go Into the woods.. Which is anytime.. Have you felt the weight of those buggers!!! :D

I'll have a look at the bighorns, a lot of tyres I've seen don't do the 255/65/16 which I'd need if they were fitted all year round as the size has to be identical to the original dimensions.
A French thingo_O

Fooking tiles....
Paper thin side walls.... A tile left in the woods to do a make shift road hsa left a nice little 10mm slit in the tire wall....
Not f<cking happy.... The old at3's generals had done over 40.000mls and never a main tread puncture never mind a side wall cut.... They may have better grip but the pay off is weak walls. Just had to pay another 100€ for a replacement... Luckily my tyres are young enough to throw in a replacement or I could have been stung for two tyres....
You replace in pairs here:(

What is the load rating? And are they "LT"? I fitted LT235/85-16 Yokohama GO15 to my series - 120 load rating and sidewalls about 1/2" thick. They don't do the LT verison in every size, only the common truck and van sizes.

Hankook Dynapro AT2 RF11 255/65 R16 109T.
Thats all the info I have on them.
The tread is brilliant, rain, motorway and in the crap. Very stable tyre. :)

Tyre chart:
https://www.ctyres.co.uk/general/load-index
109 is 1030 kg which is a bit marginal off road as one tyre should be able to take the whole axle load.
120 is 1400 and the LT means heavier sidewall so they flex less.

Compared to the general at3's, they are a bit thin on the walls. They are classed as 50/50 on/off but not committed off-road tyres as I do road mileage also. I'd love to have some 80/20's but the economy is important to me as well. Economy.... Pfff. Yes I did say that out loud.
Thank you for the chart, that is very good to know info;)

Its also worth looking at the ply rating. It used to be the number of plys which would tell you how thick the sidewall was, now its a measure of tyre stiffness but not direclty the number of plys, but a bigger ply rating is still a stiffer stronger tyre.

Thanks again, I'll make do for a couple of years If they last and sell them off and buy some more tougher tyres... Live and learn. :);)

Update, after the side wall incident the new tyre turned up and was fitted. Just been out on a 20min jaunt to put some chèques in the bank dont you know and the tyres behave really well on the road even at 2.4 bar. They do better then the at3's due to the tyre tread hanging à more spare-ish block pattern to throw mud easier. Apart from thin walls they are doing pretty well.

So what you lot have for boots?

I currently still have a mixture of 32” MTs that I ran on the farm. 275/75/(15?) insa turbo2 special track/Cooper STT pros

I want something more road friendly and a little smaller diameter but can’t go too small as the lift kit is staying. 30” perhaps? My mate has D2 wheels with tyres I can have cheap but I’m not sure if they’d need spigots or extra faffing around.
What has @Grrrrrr got? They seems to sit nice, work in the mud and handle the everyday tarmac

From what i have read D2 wheels are the same and go straight on its the l322 wheels and D3/ sport wheels which is what i have that need spigot rings and different nuts.

255/55/R18 with General Grabber AT2 on. They've been on ages now. Seem to wear well.
