I dont think it's an intentional trick.

But your right you do have to be aware there is a difference between lift rating and pull rating.

After using turfors on exercise to help the reccy mecs out, there's no way I would buy one to use out laning! There a pain in the arse, heavy as **** and bite like a bastard if you put your fingers somwhere they shouldn't be, however, they have NEVER failed to recover any of the vehicles I have used them on! They are well worth it, IF there are NO OTHER alternatives.

ive not heard any good reveiws of these pullers.Some lads we met on a lane had one and werent best pleased. Tirfors are the way ahead. ANyone want mine?:nospamhere:

I think I'll go with the highlift option as I don't have a jack for my landy that can lift it easily (bit of a short reach for the mud Tyres) so will kill two birds with one stone

If your giving it away, I will take for a guy I work with, he has a nirvara and is always getting it stuck ****ing about, the reccy mechs have started charging him now for there services!

Like I said earlier, it's simply Cos I can't afford a decent electric winch. And it wont be a regular use, more of a last resort as I try avoiding anything that will get me stuck, it will just be a safety net.

So why would these hand winches be the last option?

Lot of work to move the lever for little gain?
Length of rope being 10 foot so you have to recover in stages?
They is just crap, or unreliable?
Ideal for ocasional use only?

The length of rope is pretty much irrelevant, you can extend as much as you have rope on you.
It's just a hell of an effort to get it out the ****!

They're not really a last option, just an option, not even an electric vehicle mounted winch is infallible.
Even if I had an electric winch fitted I'd still take my High Lift jack and still take a hand winch if I had one.

The more diverse recovery equipment you have either alone or as a group the more recovery options you will have.

Mostly.....

It's amazing what you can do with blocks and tackle even with just a front mounted winch.

I'd recommend going a long to a winch challenge just to watch.
I'm sure there are winching courses too.

ive never had a problem in winch challenges/punch challenges ive never used or will ever use a hand puller as long as you have a vehicle a ground anchor or a tree and plenty of ropes/strops and some snatch blocks you can recover yourself in any position you require
