Think you'll find you need their 'Special Metals Primer' for Galv mate. Not sure whether Acid etch would be better?

Hammerite is cack, Google por15. Way better and sets like glass

Left mine bare and it shows it off nicely.
Tractol chassis black for the rest and it is good quality paint. Screwfix black paint is like grease. Only buying tractol stuff now.

Mordent wash then finish with any car paint. This is mine 14yrs ago, still looks ok.
Fully understand mate. Nice obvious silver chassis has always seemed a bit like saying "take me, I'll last longer"
Paint it black and fling some orange blobs at it here and there. Oh and get some mud on it.

Was this not down to do with certain paints chemical reaction to galvanising. Also having the point galvanising exposed to the air and not covered are you not defeating the purpose against oxide. With paint chemical reaction could hinder or allow future moisture pockets.

I've used both Hammerite Special Metals primer (red) and similar stuff from Ronseal and International Paints (both white). This was on aluminium and galvanised steel. Of the 3, the Hammerite gave a better "grip" for the subsequent topcoats although I did use a brush to get it on (I'd prefer to spray). I sprayed the topcoat on one area and brushed another, and the brushed finish lasted much longer. The surfaces primed with the other 2 began to show the original surface after a year. The PO of my current truck used - so he claimed - POR15 on the galvanised chassis. This was about 20,000 miles ago and it seems to be holding up well in most areas.

Any reason why you can't just Dinitrol over the top of it ? Doesn't show of the galvanised finish I know but being galvanised and then being coated it's got two layers of protection ?

I just brushed coated black waxoyl on my galvanised chassis, looks good, easy to apply and lasts several years and then easy to give a quick going over, protects rubber covers on suspension linkages and brake pipes and other metal bits too.

Corroless paint products are good, and I have also used Rustoleum Combi-colour quite a lot in my previous rebuilds with good results.

Good, but old fashioned. Used to use that, followed by washing off, priming, undercoat and topcoats on galvanised structural steel, highway bridge parapet rails and the like. It was phased out by the mid 1990's when clients started specifying etch primer as the first stage. If it was mine I would give it a dose of chassis wax (don't want to mention w*x**l at the risk of igniting another protracted fred)

I was in craddocks yesterday and britpart are selling boxes of chassis treatment, it's actually a box full of dinitrol

Might have to take a look.
As Aaron said, rustoleum combicolour is very good, durable, goes on well and sticks to wire-brushed steel like poo to a blanket.
For galv bits I've painted, I just bought purple scotchbrite, white vinegar from Tesco. Give it a few scrubs over a couple of days and bobs yer uncle.
