Heloooo!

I've got my landy back :) My bright yellow 1986 90 with the ooooh so larvely N/A is back in my hands and boy am I excited!!! I'm glad to be officially back in the landy world. It's had a new rear cross member fitted as well as a few other bits whilst it's been away but there's a little bit of welding to be done. The crossmember that the 'A'-frame mounts to has two holes in the back of it which need welding up, and there's also a hole on the top of the chassis rail on the drivers side between where the new rear cross member joins and where the 'A'-frame cross member is.

Other than that it looks good and I can't wait to get it properly back on the road.

How've y'all been?

Welcome home Pos, I was one of the first to read your thread that you were selling the Landy and after all the work you had put in to it I knew you were making a mistake. A landrover is not going to feel any obligation to behave itself just because you bought it back though.:) Best of luck with it.

Yeah well I'd been looking for it on ebay every night from the day that I sold it. I realised that I'd made a big mistake, and by no means do I expect her to behave. She's already got a list of aches and pains to sort!

Glad to hear you have it back :)

Go on then... Spill the beans on how/why you have it back :p

Well it's a simple story! I have looked for it every night since I sold it a few months back. I just got lucky and it re-appeared. The guy who bought it off me has put a lot of work into it. He's replaced the rear cross member, I thought the old one was solid but I guess that was the waxoyl hiding things from me. He's also done the bearings and various gaskets along with other bits and bobs, so he's been over it with a fine tooth comb. The only thing it needs doing is some welding to the A-frame cross member which is rotten through but I'm on top of that. Other than that, a coat of waxoyl all over and it's rock solid :)

how come the fella sold it so soon then?

That got me worrying at first and I was wondering what he'd found that was too expensive or too big a job to sort out. Basically he bought it from me intending on having it as a project but time, space and money has prevented him from doing so. So far he's replaced the rear cross member and he's done various other bits to it too, but he hasn't got the time to get the a-frame cross member fixed up. Hat's off to him though, he let me have it back for the same price, and he's practically replaced a third of the chassis and pointed out two big holes that need fixing up

nice. why did you sell it originally anyway. and what did u replace it with.

My girlfriend lives in Ipswich and I couldn't afford £100 in fuel costs alone per round trip. It worked out £50 there, £50 back, or a tank each way if you will. I replaced it with a 1991 MK2 Golf 1.6 carb which is cheaper to run but no where near as much fun! I'm glad to have it back, and at the moment (well, for the time being) I'm running the golf on long trips to Ipswich and using the landy (once it's sorted) for pottering about at home :D I'd rather just have the landy though

NO! I love her to bits, and to be fair, she encouraged me to get the landy back. She likes it just as much as I do!

Right! Who's good at welding and can come to my house to repair the 'A-frame' cross member!?
