Hi Pos

Mine was going to be a quick swap too but in the end I decided to do it thoroughly and replace clutch, rear crank oil seal, etc etc as I didn't want to be pulling the engine out again in a few weeks if something gave up the ghost - I would've kicked myself!

As for how long it will take... Well this is the first time I've ever done an engine removal and swap so was a learning experience. It also didn't help that I was just grabbing a few hours here and there over a period of weeks rather than dedicating a week off work to it. I did everything myself too apart from a couple of hours when a mate helped me out so I reckon with a couple of you on it things would be quicker. Of course I also had to remove the engine from the Disco which added some time to it. So I reckon if you leave a week for it and make sure you have all the other bits you need in advance (belts, clutch, seals, filters, 8mm fuel line and clips, extended oil cooler pipes, new exhaust downpipe, new intercooler pipes) then I think it's possible.

Hope this helps

Richard

P.S. Once mine is MOT'd (getting done asap so will be this week) then I can pop over to show you how I've done it. Also, if you don't have an engine crane then you're welcome to borrow mine. I'd advise a leveller on the crane though which I don't have as this should make it easier when lining up the engine/splines.

when you put your engine back in if the gearbox and engine wont close up wiyhout a struggle put the gearbox into 5th and turn the engine over on the crank and give it a shake (the engine that is).
Ive just done 2 engine changes on my disco first one took 2 days second took 9 hours.
next time Im going to torch it and claim on the insurance!!!! only joking .
