Another option I found, keeping your speedo as (in)accurate as it came from the factory.:
225/55/17 Cooper Discoverer ATT 101H XL for about £105 each (including VAT), fitted at my local branch of Formula 1 in late March.
The price above includes the sneaky odds & sods such as fitting, balancing, valves, old tyre disposal that bump the price up by around a tenner a tyre. In fairness to Formula 1, I knew about those costs up front because I asked if the £93 was an all-in price and they were open about the extras when asked.
The are a 60:40 (on-road / off-road) tyre and I have been perfectly happy with them. The tyres I got the car on were shot and two were illegal, so I don't have a good baseline, but I have used the Cooper Discoverers lightly off road and in the recent snow without any issue.
