My name is Roger and I'm the proud, but frustrated, owner of a 2006 LR3 I inherited from my wife who used it as a town car for 10 years. She bought a new car right after she helped me replace the grommets at the end of the sunroof drain lines in 2021. In retrospect that was a wise decision on her part. I've been a regular guest on your forum since and want to thank you all for your time and knowledge.
I use the vehicle differently alternating between moderately extreme mountain off road use and long-haul driving between New Mexico and California. I'm a retire geologist, hunter and home project guy with limited auto experience and abilities. That said, I've done the following to the LR3 myself: Rebuilt the air suspension valves, replaced front fender flares, EGR valve and both brake switches. My instrument cluster failed and i learned it was easily removed and found a man in Washington state that restores these at minimal cost. I even bought the GAP tool and promptly programmed 3 new key fobs and calibrated my steering and suspension. All 1-banana jobs.
Unfortunately, I've also spent $$$ having local mechanics replace the alternator, A/C compressor, air suspension pump, reservoir and front shocks, brakes, bearings and front-end steering linkage. Problems found and easily solved...until a few weeks ago when something failed in the suspension electronics/wiring. It's all related to my LF (driver's side) ride-height sensor. I think it is called the Cinco Amigos and I'll post that thread separately.
FYI, the WoodnotRust username comes from my first forum post 25 years ago when I entertained the idea of buying a 'woody' station wagon. That never happened, but the name stuck. Anyway...thanks again for all those that contribute to this forum. You really make a difference.
