'Cos it's a weird video format, not a Youtube. My IE11 asked me if I wanted to view all content. It's a liveleak video, here's a linky:
Next thing is that it just shows why 4x4 drivers get a bad named, there's a perfectly good mountain track, made up with chippings for vehicular traffic, but these ejits decide to try driving in the water ditch alongside it, possibly collapsing the sides of the normal track and causing blockages to the water in the ditch.
Totally irresponsible if you ask me.

One of those "ejits" is GLASS rep for South Yorks and the video, along with others of the same lane, is already in the green laning section of the site. The trouble with watching a short video clip, without the help of a map of the spot, is that you can't tell if the "ditch" as you call it or the other flatter track is the actual course of the lane. Or even if both fall within the boundaries of the lane. I agree it looks dodgy in the video but I doubt Paul would be driving it if it wasn't legal.

If that's the case then it looks to me from the video as an illustration of "Do as I say, not as I do".

Whatever it is, it looks irresponsible. Lots of ifs and whys but having a green lane run past my old house I am glad cocks like this never came up it. If they had ave done, legal or not, a few large steel beams would have found their way across it. It just takes the pee out of the poor sod trying to maintain it.
Oh and what the hell has legal got to do with it. Lets try respectful or considerate instead.

Having watched the video on a larger screen than my phone it would seem to me that it's a footpath and not a track that runs down the side of the stream bed so they are taking the correct course, there also seems to be 'wear' on the track that would indicate that they are by no way the first people to drive down it.
As for 'responsible driving' and being 'considerate' or 'respectful' before we condemn the blokes to death by internet @MrIFan I take it you're saying it was @Paul D ?
Fortunately the two people walking their dogs in the video don't seem bothered but if they were keen bobble hatters it would be just more fuel to the fire....

It is me taking the video, it is a legal lane with a footpath, which is obviously not legal to drive on, by the side of it. The gully is water erosion, NOT vehicular erosion, with a completely different profile to how 4x4's wear a lane down ... If I had any thought of it not being sustainable, or of us eroding or damaging it further I wouldn't have driven it, simple as.
The set of videos we played a few years back when doing our first C2C as we did the same lane, were almost identical .. with no adverse commentary. In those few years the erosion hasn't got worse at all .. and I know loads of people who've driven it, and video'd it, all without adverse commentary!!
I've removed the video off this forum, which I care about, due to the amount of bull elsewhere which I haven't commented on.
I'll also comment no more on this matter.

It does LOOK pretty dodgy, your description adds a lot of perspective to the single viewpoint of the cam and reviewing it with that knowledge it's obvious that it isn't dodgy.

I've never been a fan of trial by social media or jumping to conclusions based on one viewpoint but everyone (including myself) makes that mistake from time to time.

Sad you cant defend the criticism. I suppose your position restrains you from entering into open debate about such matters but when other enthusiasts question your motives it seems the public will never accept your sport and the few remaining green lanes are doomed to the dreaded bylaws.
