Hi Guys,

Trying to do my propshaft UJs at the moment, and I've not got enough Castrol LM grease to finish the job.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find anyone that sells Castrol LM. Halfords list it on their website, but having visited two stores where they claimed to have it in stock, it seems that they have their stock codes mixed up and what they actually have is Castrol General Purpose grease.

I did look at the Comma LM Grease but it's a completely different colour to the Castrol and given that my grease gun is half full of Castrol at the moment is it safe to mix them?

Thought I ought to check before I do anything else!

Grrr. The grease I ordered arrived, but they've sent the wrong one. Like Haltwats, they seem to think that Castrol LM = Castrol Multipurpose grease, despite having a photo of LM on their page.

I've taken tomorrow off to put my repaired prop back on so I suppose I'll have to go out and get some of that black yakkum.

This stuff is high pressure and contains lithium but not only and is only standard temperature rated.

I'm sooooooo peed off.

you can use any grease its only a needle bearing

Oh. Ok. Just been trying to make sense of the Castrol web site. They don't even list LM for this country. I know my tin was old, but why does everyone list it if it's NLA? The spec sheets are available for Singapore and some other countries and as far as I can see it seems to be very similar.

Temp range seems to be the same so maybe I'm worrying about nothing.

Just don't want my newly rebuilt prop joints disintegrating in 18 months again like the britpart rubbish ones on the current prop did.

they dont get hot unless ,prop shafts have been used for some time and lasted on all forms of grease ,just do regulary ,lubricants are made too last a long time now but thats not important if you do regulary
