had them on for two years very impressed with them on the downside you get slightly more road noise and at slow speed 10 mph or less you can feel the tread on the road. I tow a caravan they come into there own on grass and mud they seem to be lasting well as there is about 3/4 tread on the front and the back ones still look like new my tyre size is 255/55/18 hope this helps, tom

Thanks Tom. Food for thought.

Bigeee,

Thanks mate. Thats a good price too. Stupid question maybe but how do they look on the wheel. Don't want them to be too different from the Wranglers on the back. They have quit a good sidewall bulge that kind of protects the rims. Hope that makes sense..

Any good?

I had the Nexens before recently replacing them with the General GT's, both good road tyres but I do regret not going for General AT's instead!

Well I put them on in the Autumn and when I saw them fitted I was a bit disappointed how they looked, that is totally like a car tyre unlike the Goodyear Wranglers which have a bit more meat on them and also immediately thought that if we have a hard Winter i'm probably going to regret not going for the AT's for the extra grip, so two reasons really!

I too tow a caravan and the only off roading I do is on grass pitches, I have had my disco 2 for 8 1/2 years and 100000 miles now. It came with Wranglers fitted which I thought did not last well, They were changed to Grabber AT2 which were brilliant, lasted really well. I have now fitted Grabber AT and they seem every bit as good, look well and I dont find them noisy. They have a good "shoulder" to protect against damage. 255/55/18s
We have a VW Tiguan too and Ive just changed the first 2 tyres on it, went for Grabber GT for it as a road biased pattern, 235/50/18s, so far so good. Im impressed with General tyres and wouldnt look elsewhere now.

OK show me you tyres :) I replaced my second set of Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tyres last November for Wranglers and great they are very quiet and comfortable, haven't tried them in the wet yet but if they are as sticky as the +4s I'll be happy, but with sticky tyres (the only time my ABS cut in was on frost/snow roads) means a lower mileage from the tyre, I only had 24K miles out of the front tyre and around 26K from the rear. :D

Pics shows tyre with pressure as per the book.

Can't get them in my size now though. 255/55/18

I just ordered The Grabber GT's about a half hour ago. Liked the look of others and considered other variants in the Goodyear range, but if the GT's work out well , they are at a very good cost of £90 each delivered (mate fits them for free) Will post a pic when fitted.

General Grabber GT's came today. First impressions before even fitting them. Very thin in the walls. I mean you can poke your finger and bulge the side walls very easily??? Will fit and see how they go.

Hi, Hope you all don't mind me resurrecting this thread but just wondered if you have any other impressions of the gts now. Most of my miles will be on road but I'd like to get the car a bit dirty at some point. I won't be doing anything in it that is likely to cause damage though as its my daily drive. I've currently got two borderline legal Event ML909 on the front with much newer matching ones on the back. I'm thinking of getting 2 gts now and matching the others in a couple of months when my finances have recovered from buying the car!

Still feel they could be a bit sturdier on the side wall. They look great on though and the Disco doesn't go off road, so on the whole not bad. I will probably fit them on the front when they are due for changing.

Thanks for the replies. I know tyre threads get a lot of stick but there's so much choice and it kind of matters on this sort of vehicle. There's a big difference in price between the at2 and gt which is why I was thinking that the gt might be better. Do the at2s last well with most miles being on road?

Side issue, got the bull bar off this afternoon. Car looks much better. Need some quality supplementary lights to go on the naked front now but that's another thread!

Thanks for the replies to this. 4 brand new Grabber ATs fitted this afternoon. First impressions are very good. Look the part. Feel on the road, even driving round the block, is far superior to the trash I had on before. Noticeably more noisy but that is to be expected. They are a lot quieter than my mechanic thought they were going to be.
