I posted back in June that I was back in the fold and looking for a good D2 but having difficulty with the price / condition equation. I received some good advice from a few of you (which hopefully I've followed) and have just picked up an extremely tidy example within my budget.
It's a 2000 TD5 S, totally original and unmodified right down to the factory radio cassette. 2 owners (same family) from new, a good service history, only 88,500 miles on the clock and a near new set of Goodyear Wranglers. Starts on the button, pulls well and has a good, precise (for a Discovery) gear change. Chassis is rock solid having been rust treated from new and the body has only a very few blemishes. The interior shows very little wear other than thinning on the drivers' seat bolster and the roof lining is intact having been refixed. All in all I'm well pleased with my new, 18 year old Disco.
Going forwards I will be looking for tips on preserving the early version TD5 engine and any other preventative maintenance deemed appropriate, all advice welcome.
