I fink the OP owes us an answer. They should at least reply to confirm if replacing the auto gearbox solved the problem or not. It's not much to ask. Sadly some do dissappear.
I'd get VOSA involved (or whichever official regulator is appropriate) to inspect the work done by the main dealer on the brakes. But needs to be done before the second garage does any work on them. They will come down on the rogue dealer like a ton of bricks. And give you the argument to claim your money back.Took to our local LR garage for its service this week - they said front discs so worn & corroded they need replaced (weird not picked up at other garage). But even better, the front brake pads also need replaced!!!
I asked for them to double check and send video. Which they did.
Can you get the brake parts back from the second garage that replaced them? Probably the best evidence you can get now.Too late as work already carried out. They did provide a video prior to the work perhaps that would be evidence. Both were Landrover garages. Would Motor Ombudsman be of any help?
I'm amazed they paid 100% given the details of the case. How did you get that. Kept on pushing? I assume the solution suggested was correct, auto box fault? To be honest I wanted to wait until it was all done and dusted and paid for! I didn't want to give them any excuse once they had agreed to the 100% goodwill.
What's wrong with it currently. The brake change issue or somefink else?Yes I kept refusing the 40% and emailing chief exec. After a stressful few weeks they finally agreed there was an internal issue with the transmisson.
of course now being screwed again.
The first LR garage said yesterday deny fault is with them and blaming my local Garage and want more proof (said the video isnt clear). So now I am having to sort this out.
someone must be in the wrong. Have emailed chief exec of landrover. If not resolved I will be back on social media and take it to motor ombudsman.
Today I am off looking at cars. Completely fed up with LR!!
If you have a receipt from both garages listing replacement brakes, then put both receipts in an email to both garages at the same time. Ask them to advise which garage over-charged for unnesersary work. Receipts should have the mileage on them from the time they had the car.Front brake pads replaced end of Sept.
During service last week they had to be replaced by local LR garage as they were “worn”.
begs the question were they replaced by other garage (who say they were).
If they were replaced do LR brake pads not last 4 weeks/600 miles?
or did they not need replacing???
So many questions…..
meanwhile I have stumped up twice and having to be the go between these garages, something not adding up somewhere
You have been given a lot of help across a number of different freds relating to your gearbox. There will always be a bit of pi** taking on ere. Its how the forum works. It attracts views and banter, which keep the forum going as opposed to many other lr forums that have died over the years. Ignore the comments if they offend. As a result of some other comments on here decided to remove myself from this chat.

Does the 'new' car need to turn heads at the school gates or would you be equally happy in a Fiesta?
