Hi,
Having been let down by a local garage, I have an undrivable p38 which needs some brake work.

Can anyone recommend a decent specialist near Glasgow / Helensburgh ?

or do I need to just go to Taggarts ?

thanks for your help

Bob

Andrews is closed, he died a 1 1/2 years ago & then the business turned to sh!te family taking all the money out it, it will be for sale soon.

Ah curious... my bad experience was with a garage such as this, what is Andrew’s trading as these days ? I wonder if that’s where I’ve been !

I ended up going to Elite Land Rover in Clydebank who seemed to know what they were doing. (Fingers crossed)

Lcs (landy only garage) is probably where the bad work was done feckn cowboys.
Andrews were a great garage he tried to get me to work in there for years but I like to do my own thing
so I always turned him down. They have recently closed & have never traded as anything else.

Was your motor in for brakes then had a collision??

Yes, have you heard the tale ?

It was a bit of an unfortunate experience, they were nice folk but left me with a dangerously undrivable car (no brakes).

I think, in the end, the peculiarities of the P38 caught them out

My mate told me something about it, he's an mot tester & cause it was landy related he mentioned it.

nah, we’ll I was just a bit amazed that they didn’t even attempt to fix the braking problem it went in for before sending it for an MoT...

And it needed bled... the accumulator was full of air -the woeful tale is related in another post !

thankfully it’s all cool
Now after a thorough bleeding as per Rave, two new ABS sensors and a driveshaft ! -apart from an oil leak

Unpopular opinion - I actually rate LCS. Lenny knows what he's doing and did a blindingly good job rebuilding my heritage. Unfortunately, after nearly dieing in a motorcycle accident his team took advantage. Likewise not an excuse for poor work.

If Lenny is working on my landy I'd not take it anywhere else.

So Lenny himself
Is good but he’s surrounded by charlatans ?

TBH I’ve started using Murray Motors in Helensburgh and I’ve found them very thorough, approachable and friendly.

A shout out also to Regal Motors in Kelty
Who are absolute stars -cannot recommend them highly enough -just a little far Tom drive with a bust diff !
