Getting my 90 resprayed

I think any spray shop shying away from spraying a Defender is just worrying about comeback when it starts to oxidize.

When my Defender got nicked and the clowns sprayed it Matt black with rattle cans it looked awful. Direct Line put it bfn to its original colour and pulled every dint. It looks stunning (will be at Donnington this weekend). However I know the spray shop charged direct line 5k for the respray.

5k for a respray? You can buya pretty decent landy for that! The cheap way is to use your local paint shop and have 2 pack made up into aerosols, the finish is very good if you apply it right, do it panel by panel with lots of prep and the job will cost around 200 pounds Plus the cost of etch primer, I wont suggest using 2 pack with spray equipment like I do because it contains isocyanate and you'll poison your neighbours, pretty safe in aerosols though well reasonably. Regards Chris

How many paint shops make up rattle cans? Halford do, but it's very expensive!

Not sure where you are based but we use SRS (Sheffield Refinishing Services or Solutions or something). They are helpful, will advise on gun set up etc and mix most things.

While we are on the subject theres a few patches on my 90 id like to touch up. Any ideas on how to go about it? mainly no idea how to colour match it

Kind of a black mixed with a bit of very dark grey.

(Ignore the screw, it was easier to fix my door handle at the time n place!)

I'll have a look into that, the roof is easy as it will come off in one piece and I could do a panel at a time, maybe I should try 1 panel 1st?

Interesting to hear different prices, I'm in Ireland and got a quote on Friday last for €1,500 to respray series 3. Interestingly the previous owner had hand painted her so body shop is telling me it needs to be finished with coach paint rather than two pack incase it reacts and bubbles, doctors differ I guess but now not sure what to do I believe two pack is better option.

P&M Panels with make a can up from a sample or the whole thing if it's drivable

I'd think somewhere local to you will offer the same service

Hi Chris, I got a quote to get my 110 resprayed, just the outside. €2000 Euros which at the current exchange rate works out £1500. That was me just dropping it off and they do everything.
Think I will wait till after our next Morocco trip.
