Morning all,
I've bought myself a 99 td5 as a run around. It was 'cheap' and I knew it had the odd fault, but my plan was to give it a good service and change all the consumables I could. Breaks etc. BUT!
On the way home from picking it up the steering went hard and notchy. I stopped and had a look and it's leaking power steering fluid. I managed to get to the guys at RST Land Rovers in West Mersea and they diagnosed the pipes had corroded. I'm 'reasonably' savvy and with money being very tight I've opted to changed them myself. The nice guy there gave me some advice and right now I'm trying to strip out the old ready for the new one being delivered shortly.
Here's the thing though, I've got to take the rad out to get to the brackets holding the pipes but I am struggling. I've got all the pipes off and there's water everywhere, but I cannot lift the rad out??? There's 2 long bolts below either end of the rad with 15mm nuts on that appear to be holding it in place. Is that right? I've tried undoing them, but they are just spinning? I really need some help here because I've got to go to work tomorrow and this is my only transport at the moment.
Is there anyone out there that can give me any pointers or even pop round and laugh at me then help?
I'm in Stanway in Colchester btw.
Much appreciated.
