I have a Freelander 1.8 XEi yr 2000, one of many to suffer with a seized vcu.
The problem has resulted in the shearing of the splines on the collar that the left hand Driveshaft goes into, with the splines wore away on the inner surface of the collar, the front driveshaft not being driven and therfore no drive to either front wheel.
I have removed the IRD and the lefthand driveshaft from the vehicle and can clearly see the faulty part. Problem is - How do I remove it. Does the whole gearbox need to come out of the car or can I split the gearbox leaving the clutch bell housing still attached to the engine.
Any help would be appreciated
