Evening all Series III Diesel. After a "bang" I can't move it. I can put it into gear when the engine is running, but it won't move. I have opened everything up and taken the gearbox out. Clutch hydraulics are working fine, and no obvious problem with the clutch fork. I guess next thing is to get the clutch plate off and see if there is a problem there.

Otherwise it's gearbox isn't it? :) ££££:(

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks

pity you didnt try it in low box or 4wd first,to check for a rear halfshaft etc, but its possibly a ripped clutch plate center

Seems most likely to be clutch or half shaft. You also go through th gears on the bench with the tbox in neutral and see if there's any roughness.

I have a L reg disco v8 auto . Goes in reverse all gears just when you pull away you have to put it in first on box .. Then about 10mph change into d and it goes in all gears but when I stop have to restart from 1st to d again any ideas was fine problem not long started

Ryan, that's something to take to the Disco part of the site, Series do not have auto boxes unless they are very unusual conversions.

Do your clutch n flywheel if the gearbox is out .

When you say 'Do your flywheel' John, what would you do to it? Mine currently on the bench, will be getting a new clutch & release bearing (the fork is already the hefty type) but flywheel is news to me. Its definitely not dual mass! :p
