I suppose a question i should ask is, as its already got the new ATF in the box, is it ok to leave it or am i recommended to change it ASAP to MTF?????

It has alwas been ok, look in any D1 owners handbook ATF is what's recommended, there's always been a MTF and as far as I can make out, without any dates to go by, it's only recent that its now the recommended lubricant.

You'll see that the manual gearbok recommendation is smx-s (MTF oil) but the footnote (c) clearly states that for R380 box of your year TQ D is recommended which is ATF Dexron II

ATF is the correct oil

Im no expert on this but from reading other threads it seems ATF was specified at first as it made for easier gear changes specially when cold.It also masked the second gear syncro problem.Problem was ATF is not great for wear in the box:eek: so LeRs solution was to then spec MTF.
I am sure there are peoples in here that have more informed opinions than me.
When I do mu R380 oil it will be with ATF + Molyslip G treatment:D

As a matter of interest Dave how is the Gbox ie smooth changes etc.
If all is well stick to the ATF in my humble opinion:D

It seems ok, better, but a little baulk going from 2nd - 3rd sometimes.

As most owners do, i tend to 'baby' my landy and didnt like the thought of having oil in there that wasn't lubricating enough. Probably just me being stupid:eek:
