I would like to change the gearbox oil and filter soon as I do a lot of towing ant the car is relatively new to me. I see there are sump conversions from a one piece filter sump to a separate sump pan and filter cartridge. What is the idea behind these?
Also is it wise to disconnect the oil cooler and briefly run the engine to pump the torque converter out or just indoors the drain plug in the sump?
