Evening I own an early Discovery Sport. Its on a 15 plate with the 2.2 Litre engine, 9 speed Auto & its done 68900 miles. I am looking for some guidance and advice please. I have a number of faults with the Transmission Control module 3 of which relate to mechanical failure. There are 3 faults with the Powertrain Control Module 1 is data memory failure, 1 is transmission torque reduction request signal malfunction the other is starter relay circuit..
Which currently mean I am unable to drive the car as on my last outing I literally ground to a halt on a nearby ring road. On this occasion the gear rotor descended and I was nearly stuck in park mode. Hazards on. Luckily I managed to turn engine off, wait, turn on and it reset itself, the rotor rised, I put in D and drove home. Symptoms seem to be sharp, jerky gear changes, sometimes struggles to engage, sometimes high revs and low speed then will engage a different gear and seem ok for a bit.. but clearly all is far from well..

I'm looking for some sensible advice please. I'm wondering if its the modules themselves that might be faulty or maybe a software update might work? But obviously the gearbox itself might be shagged. A gearbox from main dealer is not an option as on back order with no eta, its vastly expensive anyway. So I'm thinking the gearbox could be rebuilt by an automatic transmission specialist despite LR saying its a sealed unit.
Has anyone had this done? or could anyone advise a company or specialist who could do this or assist please?
A 2nd hand gearbox could be an option but I think I'm correct in saying it would need programming to the vehicle, is anyone able to confirm this is correct?
Many thanks in advance James

I'd suggest asking in the Freelander section, as the DS is basically a Freelander 2 with some updates. The Discovery section catering more for proper Discovery's

We won't have a clue here. But random electrical issues sound ECU to me, or broken wire. Check the looms carefully. Do not do this but if it was mine and it was last ditch and knew it was the ECU, I would reflow the gearbox ECU.
