Gear/transfer boxes

Hi everyone i want to ask what gear boxes were fitted to classic range rovers.
I have a 1989 3.9 auto that has 4 speed high and low ratio.
What other gear/transfer boxes were fitted to range rovers from around this time?

lt77 5 speed manual or 4 speed z44hp22 auto, which is what you have if you mean you have a 4 speed auto.

both had a borg warner chain driven transfer box and viscous coupled difflock that year I think.

I also have a 4 speed auto with high and low ration diff lock

Mine's from 1980 though.

Do you have to select diff lock or is it automatic when you go in to low range? I only have high low there is no diff lock on the gear nob

see my post. its a viscous unit that does it automatically
