Hi I hope someone may have some ideas for me.

The gear selector part no Ucb000051 is supposedly faulty on my Range Rover 2004 petrol.

You cannot buy this gear selector new anymore and so need to fit a second hand one does anyone know if these are coded to the original vehicle and need to be re coded …… we have fitted a second hand one and this has not solved the problem.

The original problem was when selecting a gear drive or reverse the selected gear would clunk in putting the car into limp mode.

Any information gratefully received.

Hi the code came up as the gear selector the Landrover guy who fitted the second hand one normally fits new but Landrover no longer make the part

This doesn’t sound right. Are you sure that something else (e.g. the inhibitor switch) isn’t putting the transmission into failsafe when the gear lever is moved? Once in failsafe the mains pressure is not modulated which causes the gear engagement from Park or Neutral to go in with a bang. As kermit_rr has suggested, I would get the codes read and see if P0705 has been flagged.

Phil
