Hi again everyone,
I've not been on for a while as I've not had my car for nearly a year but that's another sad story! This post; following a noise coming from the input shaft to the gearbox I had it rebuilt by Ashctoft and refitted. Now on getting the car back I find that in trying to engage reverse gear the gear leaver knob hits the hand brake, so much so that I have to release the brake!
Can anyone suggest a reason as to why this is happening and hopefully a cure?
Thanks in advance for help forthcoming.
Stay safe all,
Gordon.

why not trying to unbolt it and just reposition the top section to miss the hand brake

I think I would be contacting Ashcroft and asking them !!

My thanks to Frostythor and Meego for your help. Frostythor, as you can see from the drawing that you posted, it shows a distinctive bend just above the cotter pinch bolt which the leaver fitted to mine doesn't have! I'll try and post a photo, not done that before! Does anyone know if different gear leavers or extensions are perhaps fitted to the Defender? Ashcrofts invoice lists the gearbox as an R380, Type73A rebuilt, OCR.
Thanks again,
Gordon.
