For some reason I reckon a 90 vgt 200tdi auto would be a nice drive?

+1 - "Oh yeah baby" as they said in the sixties :D - I reckon it would go like stink !! - and be a nice drive too - my D1 300 tuned goes pretty well, and a VNT is deffo on my wish list !!!

It's your money and time, by all means spend both as you wish, hope you find it all worth the cost and effort.
It will be worth my time and money...after all turbocharging was my business (mostly BMWs) for a long time until 3 years ago when I moved to Barbados. :)

And BTW, I forgot to tell you, your master tech BMW friend should have known that the same GT2056V came in diesel powered BMWs. I will let you know how it turns out, I have rebuilt my 300tdi already, have a manifold on and now waiting on my turbo. I just brought the full size inter-cooler and other related parts for my project while I was in the US for the holidays.
It will work the way I want and expect it to...

Cheers.

I know that Alisport and Allards 300tdi upgraded turbo kits are both using VNT.. just thought it be good to look up some vids on VNT powered 300tdi's.

I found this dude pushing his VNT (from 2.5 audi) charged Auto 300tdi.... to 135 Km/h with 336,755 KM on the odo, thats crazy.
