no problem ,i wouldnt get a smaller gun like mine unless your using it everyday like i do,in fact its my most used tool by a long way but a ratchet and socket does similar just a lot slower, a large gun is very handy though

that would have really hurt with it not being an impact gun

agree and have got a larger air impact gun, with some of the more stubborn bolts will be soaking them in some plus gas for at least a week , so can at least give it chance to really work and in theory try and make life abit easier , famous last words, lol

just good having a few heavier duty tools

thats why having replaceable knuckles is handy ,1/2 is enough for most ,though a 3/4 socket set is nice it wouldnt be a first on a tool to get list

imagine some of the costs can be eye watering for sockets , bars , tools , etc when u start getting into commercial vehicles

an old fashioned oil can is good for stubborn bolts specially weres there a lot of rusty thread too, it stays on the thread and doesnt boil off

funny enough i did buy an oil can , so i can also if need be put a longer bit flexible tube on the end for those harder to reach areas

the plus gas i bought in oil can form and not a spray can , so indeed allows me to concentrate it more onto the nut etc and not waste it

snap-on stuff is eye watering at any size, i do buy a lot of other stuff to kinpex is great and not bad priced

re mortgage time , seen silly prices for screwdriver sets let alone the large stuff , but with u using it everyday u need the really decent tools etc

i quite like some of the halfords professional range , ideal for what use i need

some snap-on type stuff i find necessary but generally you dont need it, theres some decent cheaper stuff around and it means you can have much more variety

spanner’s wise i bought a lot of britool which i’ve had for years, socket sets i have the halfords professional range which i’ve found to do the job i need them for , few facom bits and screwdrivers most of them are stanley

alas the air compressor i bought should also help me with some of the stubborn nuts and bolts etc , access pertaining , lol

have extended mine since getting the disco, ie longer spanner’s , irwin sockets , 6 x sided sockets and tools really add up over time , inc those special little tools you’ve had for years for that special job that makes it a lot easier

indeed , also done me proud , was like night and day when i bought the longer spanner’s , saved trying to mess around linking 2 x spanner’s together

those irwin sockets have been a godsend , was the only thing that worked when i was taking out my old reservoir air tank

got some safety glasses and been looking at the ones with torches built in , fed up trying to hold a torch in the right place

also got a small seat on wheels and a little tool trolly , god it makes life so much easier

dream would have be having a post lift

The snap on hard handled screwdrivers really are very good, plus you can replace the shanks.
Im still on my original set and it must be 20 odd years old, thats 20yrs of daily abuse in the workshop.
They did away with the hard handled ones and came out with thefcukinggayergonomicoilsoakedbitsof**** that no one likes and hey presto they have bought back the hard handled ones again, so I bought another set in case they changed their minds again!
Yes they are kin dear, but you need the tools to do the job.

Before I got the Land Rover I thought I'd need big tools. However, the socket set I use the most is a 1/4" Teng brand one. It's reasonably tough and can go in small spaces. I was using it a good deal this afternoon getting my steering column undone for example. Obviously it would be no good for wheel nuts, but there's a lot of small stuff on Land Rovers and sometimes surprisingly little room to get at it.

I have 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 9/16”, 15, 17, 18, 19, spanner’s (2 of each) as well as 22, 24 spanner’s. A small and large flat head screwdriver, snipe nose pliers, normal pliers, side cutters, small pipe grips, external circling pliers, knife, adjustable spanner, small hammer, punches and a small cold chisel, and cable ties. They all live in a tool roll behind the seat. I have a second roll back there with a 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2” socket set in it. Also in there are socket adaptors, extensions for each size and prop shaft tool.
I also carry a hub nut spanner, inside which I have a tube of hylomar and silicone sealant. A few jubilee clips are nipped up around the outside of it and it too, lives behind the seats. There is a 27mm socket on a breaker bar for wheel nuts and obvs the jack. Also have some decent work gloves and a few rags.
I have tool box in my garage with random tools in it but I rarely need owt out of there (except the big hammer!!!).

Went mad yesterday and brought the 200 piece halfords kit and a 2ft breaker bar from your recommendations. Not used it yet but I'm certainly impressed by the look/weight of it all!
