I managed to do a swap with a friend which involved me gaining a set of secondhand galvanised cappings. Sadly at some point somebody painted them and when i tried to sand them gently or use a paint scraper, it appears they have used etch primer and the galv has dissappeared under the paint.

I found a can of 'Galvafroid' galvanising paint, does that produce a very similar effect to galvanising if applied with a paint brush and would it need any prep beforehand other than stripping off the old paint with nitromoors or something similar?

Cheers, Harry

Isopon 182 anti rust primer is zinc rich and acts as a reasonable alternative to galvanising if you want to re-paint over it. It is reasonable as I say and gets some good reports but doesnt beat the real thing.

thers no such thing as galvanising paint or brush on galvo, ;)

just call a few places and tell them its under 20 kg and they will give you a price, i have a load of stuff that needs acid dipping and galvo, just waiting for half a tonne :D
