galvanised chassis 88" v5 sais 109

good evening i purchased series 3 landy some time ago it has 88" galvanised chassis i found out later to my cost that the v5 log book states 109" even though its a swb. could anyone let me know how easy or hard it would be to correct the v5 to current length please. i was reluctant to contact dvla in fear of complications, any advise would be appreciated.thanks maidencombe dave
 
I can tell you the 109 can't be 'corrected' to 88. If you contact DVLA they will simply nullify the existing V5 and registration number. What the previous owner should have done (assuming he rebuilt it as an 88 ) was actually an SVA. Now you are stuck, options are to sell it as is to someone who doesn't care but obviously it has a huge impact on value. Or tear it down yourself and go through the 'build' yourself and get your own SVA (you can't SVA a vehicle someone else built) It isn't a good situation either way.

If the mistake was made by DVLA, then it can be corrected. There are other questions: is the vehicle on the road? If so what have you insured it as? You'll need to tell your insurance either way. Good luck untangling this particular ball of snakes
 
Can you find out by getting the factory build history if it was originally an 88 or a 109, I have multiple mistakes on my V5 that I have the original factory records to fight with the DVLA to get them corrected, all of them are mistakes on the DVLA's part and not the actual vehicle details themselves. At least I have the build record to back up the info that is incorrect on the V5 but matches the actual vehicle details.
But if its was originally a 109 then I agree, you are pretty screwed.
