This is my dash right now:

This is what i've found that works my rear wiper, which works one min and not the next.. ive just juggled wires to see what happens !! but i don't know if it also runs my screen wipers.. and they are faulty also.

I have no intermittent.. just continuous in the intermittent position.. and in full wipe position the wipers simply stop on the screen in what ever position they were when i moved the switch fully upright into position.

I have replaced the switch as it literally fell apart as i took it out and was all sloppy originally. I replaced the park switch as that was faulty, and i have exposed the rear wiper motor only to find it has no cover over its body

i'm hoping someone can tell me in layman's terms.. idiots guide.. how this rear wiper 20 second delay relay should be wired!! and where is the location of the main wipers relay ??.. then how it should be wired incase its wrong.

Sorry guys and girls, but am in a pickle here.

Mine has no relay fitted at all just a round switch jobber like the one fitted to this directly wired to the rear motor which just switches it on or off and it you push it in squirts washer fluid, as for the front mine only has fast or slow with no intermittent and mine a '88

According to Haynes there should be no relay fitted to the front either.

What does this 20 second thing actually do? and have you tried bypassing it cos it looks like someone elses bodge

Thanks Marmaduke.
I do actually get a 20 second delay on the action of the rear wiper, it's only that i have to move the relay about a bit to get it to work.. must be a glitch in the relay i guess. Just found that today.
I can see why there might not be a relay for front, but even with a brand new switch i have the same issue, so must be something else at fault. It did suddenly give me a slow (not intermittent) then faster on stage 2, a few weeks back. But it was totally random and in no way caused by anything i did.. just did it when i turned it on. And has only happened that one time.. hence i started wondering where the relay was etc. Maybe it's motor related !!

Anyone else know anything that might help??

I am afraid hawky666 the wiring in your landy is very much non standard so its going to be very hard for us to help, think you need a lecky expert, sorry.

Non standard is one way of putting it! Looks like rats have been nesting in it! :D

OP, I agree with tottot ^^^^^^^^^^^, you really need to get an auto sparks to sort that, unless you are very good at electrics.
If its only the rear wash wipe keeping you off the road, why not remove, mine doesn't have it anyway.

I've managed to get most of these wires tested and labelled up now, so the confusion is becoming less. I've been stripping what can only be described as the mother load of scotch wires etc out, and wires that do nothing.

In the past week or 2 i've put in new headlights, sidelights.. even that was scotchlocked to death with the sidelights linked to heads by them. I've run direct wires to fans with relays etc as opposed to to none fused direct lives.
I've installed a Tmax duel battery charge / monitor system and electrics cut off switch for all the ancillaries which will also cut total power except for too hazards and fans shortly.
I've now got an electric shut off to winch.
I've put in a new fuel tank with pipes including filler tube and fuel sender unit etc.
I've put in a new 4 core rad and new inter-cooler with all piping and thermostat etc.
New rear tires, springs and shocks.
New rear door hinges and locks all round.

She's now outside jacked up with the drivers side wheel hub stripped and new king pin bearings seals etc going in.. and brake pads all round. That's just giving me a breather for a moment from the electrics which i'm aiming to have done by early part of week with MUD console installed and stereo, cb, etc.. ready to enjoy.

Part of me wishes i'd never started, and i'm just hoping to sort this wiper issue out (front and rear) before i start putting it all back together.
I also have a rev counter to put in which doesn't seem to want to work.. GRRRRRRR.

I'm worn out.. and an auto electrician would probably cost me an arm and a leg lol.. so i'm persevering for now.

Wish me luck.

Sounds like you have made a lot of progress already.
Not sure what the mud console and so on is, I always try and stays with standard on the electrics.Electrics on mine was pretty good when I got it, luckily.
Best of luck, hope you can sort it.
Auto sparks aint actually that dear, the one I use is 35 quid an hour IIRC, he comes here, brings all the terminals and wires needed, and does the job. Covers a lot of ground in an hour.

If i don't crack it soon, i will look into a sparky next, as would like to achieve what i set out to.. one way or another lol.
Right now i just want to get her back on the road.
I'm taking on an industrial unit with my business next week.. so next target will be stripping and tidying the outside. Getting the olive green and black paint on the go.
