You all may have heard me blabber about my old VM RRC i had .

I sold in in 2008 for peanuts £500 because of some rust issues, mainly seatbelt anchorages.

cosmetically and interior wise she was immaculate.

The engine was fully rebuilt etc etc.

Now i go looking online and find the prices of Turbo D rrc have soared FFS

not only that the Trb'D seems to have vanished this is the only VM powered RRC i've seen in months!!

To say i'm kicking myself is an understatement!!

I feel your pain - once traded a really mint one same colour as the eBay one with 54K on it for a P38 and only got 1500 quid for it, hope the new owner looked after it!

The VM powered RRC was always a vehicle I'd have liked to own, I test drove a new one back in 1989 in Sydney and was suitably impressed, but the changeover cost from my old 1977 RRC V8 was too great, so I kept the V8 another 10 years.
And despite what people say about the much maligned VM, I'll bet you could have had more trouble with the P38 than you could get with the Classic.

I did, spent as much time in courtesy cars while they tried to mend the HVAC as I did the RR, only kept it a year..
 
She was shire blue i believe beautiful colour.

I bought her in 2003 with 40k and sold her in 2008 with 77k.

If you put into MOT checker websites her last recorded MOT was in 2011 :(

The VM was a brilliant engine it pulled well and got 30mpg if driven sensibly, in a way i miss it more than my RARER!!! 3.9 vogue manual!

She was the twin to this car here.

Funny story about her.

Upon first buying her i noticed the swivels were pishing oil out of them, with me being busy and all that i sent it off to a LR specialist to have them redone new seals etc etc.
after 2 weeks she was ready to pick up, i wnt to the garage and got my keys etc etc walked upto her and noticed 2 things.

#1 she went in with 15' vogue wheels, and was now sat on discovery ES wheels

#2 my axles were different I painted my axles Blue to match the car, the ones on it now were black!!

I enquired as to why my wheels and axles had been swapped and he said "i don't know what your talking about" WTF?!

because i had no previous pics of the car i couldn't prove he had done anything!! FFS

I bought her from a newspaper ad which i no longer had :rolleyes::mad:

Wow, can't say I go looking for another even for price comparisons as I am happy with the one I have, although mine is a bit younger it does have a few more miles on the clock!

Love that Blue colour, they were the best of everything in the "classic", simplicity, luxury, economy, a great package.
A mate over here has the remains of a very badly rusted '88 Classic Td that we removed the VM and lt77 manual from to put into his '85 County, maybe one day someone will find it for a "resto project", but it is disappearing a bit more each wet season.
 
Just when you think you've seen/heard it all o_O
The saga of substituted axles & wheels is incredible, who would think of needing photographic evidence of their car prior to leaving with a repairer ?
Talk about a can of worms, if the repairer was that bent what else could have been substituted ? I can't believe he subbed items like wheel/axles that were so glaringly obvious to the owner as he couldn't have prior knowledge that you didn't have photo's of the car, most owners do.

He was a con artist unfortunately i was unlucky.
