Fuel Tank!!!

hello, iv got a J reg 90 defender county 200TDI and the fuel tank is abit crispy and i want to replace it, i am an apprentice mechanic but any tips on removing and replacing the tank????? thanks

Disconnect battery, drain it (plug rear corner at rear), remove driver seat base, remove sender and fuel pick up pipes

Loosen retaining bolts and prepare for a lot of swearing and shaking of the tank - it will come out but can be a bugger!

thank you mate, does it come up out of the hole in the floor ? the brackets are compleatle rotten and no longer support anything so should be easyer do you think?

Go downwards and take the sill off, it's easier. Getting the new one in is harder.

My old one was a bitch to get out - took me 2 days The new one was fitted within an hour. Went on very easily.
