Fuel tank removal??

I've unbolted everything assuming the fuel tank would just drop down but the bugger wont, am i missing something or does the tank need to be removed from the inside???? only got today to get it out as i'm workin over the weekend, no wedding partying for me

90 or a 110? The 90 has it's fuel tank underneath the driver's seat whereas the 110's is underneath the back so they're different.

If it's a 90 there's two bolts on the rear body outrigger and one with a big rubber washer onto the front. Once these are undone it's only the filler and breather pipes and the fuel sender wiring left to disconnect.

and if it's a TD5 be careful, disconnect the fuel lines as soon as you can get your hands in to them or you will break the plastic ends - don't ask me how I know :doh:

Sorry should have said, its a 90. i've undone the 2 bolts at the back, one at the front, i've taken the bracket off at the front cause the tank wouldn't budge, its all loose, i can slide forwards and backa little but it won't drop down, seems to wide thats why i thought it might have to come up through the floor

Its a nice old rust bucket

Actually the chassis is in very good nick, body's well battered tho. its a 200tdi

It was sticking on a gearbox mounting bolt, it was sticking out about 18mm, came out reasonably easy when i took the bolt out.
Amazing how it drips exactly where your head is!!!!!

You obviously don't work accurately enough. I can usually get em to drip straight into my eye.

I was sticking an exhaust bandage on a cinqucento a few weeks back and even managed to drip that in my eye and the bugger wasn't even soaking wet. It was only moist. It stung worse than petrol and carb cleaner anorl.:doh:

They are a pain because they are wider than the gap they fit in. I removed the sill which helped slightly.

Ordered a new tank and hose from paddocks, should have been here today!! Phone call this morning saying it'll thurs or fri (fri my birthday) had better things planned for fri. At least they rang!!

Which direction did it come out mate?? Trying to remove mine at the moment and it is stuck solid. Have removed the three bolts and bracket at the front but it just will not come out. Does the back drop first or the front?? Can not believe how heavy it is. The whole thing is gonna land on my head when it does eventually come out!!

and I just thought that this only happened to me.

Thursday, went under the Landy to remove the clamp around the downpipe. Everything was going fine (I was wearing glasses at the time), then BAMM!...a piece of rust? falls, well it must have fell through my glasses lense, straight into my eye and refuses to come out no matter how much eye wash I squirt into it, causing me not to do any work the following day (Friday) as said eye is swollen and forever watering!

So Saturday comes, time for me to bolt everything back together. Goes to bolt the downpipe back together and guess what, yup, sods law...same thing happens again, arghhh :blabla:

That just proves that your luck is better than mine. If it was me I would have done the OTHER eye the second time.

Yep, I have all sorts of **** in my eyes, I stink of diesel, I have a black finger and the tank is still on the car. Pretty unsuccesful day really.
