I've got a leak from the last metal pipe just as it enters the sender, it broke off easy when I touched it.
The nut and olive arrangement is rubbish as is the metal pipe with the bend that goes to plastic upstream. I've ordered a new sender, gasket and lock ring but while I'm waiting for that to come, I want to improve that area. If anyone knows the outside diameter of the pipe on a new sender then I can make a plan!
It's the early type sender, the later one is plastic outlet and has the low fuel sensor, mine is basic 2 terminal.
Tia.

I can’t remember the size off the top of my head, but I deleted that pipe and now have one length of diesel hose from the sender to the lift pump.
I can't do that without a lot of faff. I run bio which eats rubber and I've converted everything to clear nylon pipe and compression fittings and a facet 12v pump. My plan is to fit a 8 or 10mm 90deg compression fitting to the sender and lengthen the nylon to reach. If the sender tube isn't 8 or 10mm and is an odd size then I'll probably braze or solder something to that tube so I can fit a standard off the shelf compression fitting. At least that bugger won't rust itself to death and should undo easy being brass.

If you are using the compression fittings drill..
Is there room to drill another hole in it & use a bulkhead fitting(allows the nylon fuel pipe through & then locks off) right angle out the tank & away you go…

You can do the above on a 90 tank but not on the side outlet of the 110 tank

That might be an option. I should of mentioned that currently I have the later 300tdi sender fitted which is now knacked, it came with a second hand tank I got off ebay, the tank unfortunately leakedwhen I removed the cradle to clean it up so ended up buying a new tank in the end but reused the 300 sender as it was good. The proper sender for mine is a tenner cheaper and as I don't have the low fuel lamp that the 300 does it seemed pointless getting one of them. I popped into the garage this morning and, assuming the pipe that continues internally into the tank from the sender is the same size as the short bit that pokes out externally (bound to be) then an 8mm compression nut fits snuggly over it, i dont have the body of an 8mm compression to hand though, if the pipe won't enter the body then I'll ream it out until it does, Hopefully the earlier sender is the same, I'll figure it out.
