Hi
I have a 2.25 petrol 88 which has no fuel getting to the carb. I replaced the fuel pump as the priming handle would not work even off the engine. New pump will prime with fuel exiting from pump when priming. Turn the engine over and no fuel comes out! Engine will run if fuel is supplied.
Cant be a leak on tank side as it would not prime, or would it? Any ideas, there are a few threads on this but most end in fitting an electric pump or no conclusion!

thanks

Ed

have you got cam lever on top side of cam ,it is possible for outer lever to work and cam lever to be faulty even on new pump

I guess I can work the cam lever to see if fuel will come out, The new pump could be faulty as you say!

not until you remove pump you cant, its worth testing a pump by pushing cam lever before fitting and should feel like your pushing against a spring when fitting

Ok, so the pump pumps off the engine but the cam arm doesn't look to be the same as the the one. Are there different pumps for the 2.25 petrol? Will have to speak to paddock on Monday I guess.

Can't understand it then. Could be an out of spec pump on terms of cam lever. Will try to get hold of another and try that.

Right, found the problem - the sealed after market pump uses a spacer about 10mm thick to step it off the standard mounting plate. it was all covered in gunge so looked as tho it should have been there. standard pump was not making contact with cam!
