Disco 2 Fuel Pump Leak

Hi Guys,

Just replaced the in tank fuel pump on my td5 disco 2. New pump works fine however the blue fuel line (2nd from the right leaks when the pump is running.
The fuel pump isn't new it's from a breaker, when clipping the fuel line in it doesn't seat properly and has some play in it.
Any thoughts on what to look at? Tried changing the clip and visually there is no damage to the end of the fuel line!!

Any ides would be much appreciated.

Just looking at my old pump I took out yesterday, it looks as if the fuel lines are held in place by a type of pressure seal, similar to a push fit plumbing coupling. Since its a 2nd hand unit, it's possible the seals are perished or damaged.

Somebody at work has just said the same thing to me

still got the old pump so am going to have a look when I get home!
Will update this thread if it resolves it for anybody else who has the issue

I would doubt the seals are replaceable but you might be able to get it to seal with some PTFE tape around the end of the fuel pipe.
Out of interest, how much did you pay for the used pump?

Paid 50 for it and it's a VDO siemens one... Tho if I can't make this right might have to shell out 240 for a new one tommorow lol

If you bought it in good faith and it don't work, be sure to take it back and get your money back. £50 is £50 and even though it's secondhand, if it was sold to you as a "good" it should therefore work, surely?

I got a Bearmach one, my local landy man said he sells loads and has never had any complaints or problems with them. He said they might be slightly noisier, though mine is definitely quieter than the old one. (Not that you would hear it over a Td5 engine anyway). I paid £93 inc.vat

Edit- he did say avoid Allmakes though...
