Have been tinkering this weekend replacing bulbs, wiper blades fuses etc. just squaring the basics away.

the one slightly more adventurous (for such a newbie) things I did was to (with the help on the haynes manual) remove the fuel level sender unit. AS my fuel gauge systems is unreliable to say the least. I was expecting to find a corroded piece of junk but was surprised to find a unit that seems pretty new and in good order.

after making a few enquires it seems this is a common fault,

SO my question is does anyone know of an upgraded unit I can fit that would better than the standard unit in a 1992 200tdi!

thanks adam

Hi,
Looks like we are similar, I've got a 1991 200tdi, 110 defender. I'm also very new to all this!!!

1992 200tdi defender here. My fuel gauge permanently reads maximum. So does my temp gauge. Battery gauge always reads zero.

heres what mine looks like, it kinda works when it wants to which isn't very often so i bought a new one, but now i can't get the locking ring off.

you can bend the float in the sender unit if it isn't accurate.

the tank would need baffles to stop it going up an down when you go up hills...or some type of average circuit before the gauge.
