Hi
I have a 2005 TD4 Freelander 1 which has been leaking oil. I have been trying to find where the leak is without luck. Today I had another go and decided to check the PCV filter ( or crankcase breather as I've also seen it called.)
When I got all the covers off and the injector wiring out of the way I could see fluid sitting in the nooks and crannies on the top of the engine. This turned out to be diesel. There is no obvious leak that I can find.
Is this injector leak back, if not can anyone suggest where I should look.

check the return pipe as the connectors get brittle also check that it is not coming from the bottom of a injector if it is it will need a good clean and the diesel may have gone rock hard you will need to clean all this out and use a new copper seal on the bottom but if it is all on top of the engine go for the return pipes first.hope this helps

Thanks for that, sounds better than new injectors

Excellent answer and the exact reason why I with any diesel be it a Freelander or R75 one of my first jobs is to change the leak back joints/unions to the brass ones,

Sorry I've taken so long to get back. I did change the leak back joints and this seems to have cured the problem, many thanks.
I also changed the crankcase breather filter whilst the covers were off. The filter looked as if it had never been changed!!
