Hi all

My fuel gauge is all over the shop. I can't trust it. The yellow light came on, then it went to half way then low. now it give the impression it's matching new fuel put it but drops. Reading up on this it seems like the senders in the fuel tank could be broken. (The fuel pump was recently replaced). I'm pretty sure there's not much fuel in the system at the moment. What's the book time for dropping the tank and replacing the senders?

Anyone done this or paid for it to be done. Feels like petrol roulette now everytime I take it out. I use the trip computer to give me some semblance of a clue but still, needs sorting.

No need to drop the tank to replace the sender/pump unit, lift up the rear seats, remove the seat locking bars, roll up the carpet, remove the hatch covers and you will access to the top of the tank.....

There you will see two ports, one on the drivers side (UK) houses the pump and sender, the passanger side houses the tank scavange pick up.

Take a look in the Tech Archive for my write up on replacing the in tank pump on the Petrol Model.

As Wammers said, if they have replaced the whole pump unit, the sender is a part of the unit and it's either duff, been damaged during the re-assembly, or they've turned on the ignition at some stage during the work and corrupted the fuel gauge readings. Get whoever did the work to sort it out, it's their problem.
