I've managed to get my new fuel tank offered up into the new fuel and breather hoses and those onto the end of the filler neck tube. It was a right pain in the ass and I'm still not happy with it. :-/
Four screws hold the face of the filler neck flush with the rear tub. I can only get the two bottom ones on. I could order longer screws to secure it but it still wouldn't sit flush with the tub. It won't sit flush because it's so long when it is sat flush it reaches the far side of the gap where the hoses are meant to come up and meet it. It seems to be far too long. Has my lovely PO put one on here that's not right?
Are the Series versions shorter? Are LWB ones longer? If anyone knows of any variation in these things I'd really like to hear about it because I can't leave this as it is it's not sealing against the tub and water's going to get in over time.
Does anyone have a definite picture (or length!) of a Series filler neck tube? (Mine's a 2A 69 SWB RHD if it matters.)
It looks identical in every way to this Defender one, except mine isn't galvanized:
