Fuel Cap compatability

Ok,

i need a new fuel cap. i dont want to spend £30 on the non locking one: NRC9572 Fuel cap - to AA259678 - vented - 2 lug - non locking

but i would like to fit this one: STC4072 Fuel cap - AA259678 to WA159806 - vented - locking - 2lug - black

now my chassis number is AA215*** so it looks like im going to have to go for the 1st one, but i read here: Fuel Caps? - Land Rover UK Forums

and it seems like the bloke is in the same predicament as me. cept his is an 86 (mines 85) and he dont give his chassis number

any experience guys?

Looks like it'll fit. They know there stuff on LRUK I'd go for it. The worst that can happen is you have to send it back

chucked it in with me paddocks order... we shall see.

er no... i been sobbing in the corner havent done anything. i need to move it from the road to the drive 1st! havent even done that hopefully make a start tomorrow.

thats all very well but it would be 1). illegal 2). a 3hr run each way 3). 40ltrs of fuel.

thanks n'orl but im going to give it a good crack this weekend. starting with the brakes. change flexi hoses/pads, rear shock bushes will be this week sometime.

mount reflectors/fuel cap/rear fog light wire-in/ hazard tell tale light will be next week. along with trying to sort out the steering box. helpful chap from my club is gonna help weld it in the new year also gotta drop in new starter motor (from POS, Cheers ) and do the front prop UJ's.

then MOT early Jan.
