Still unable to get my FBH working,
Was showing a glowplug fault and also the battery voltage was low.
Serviced the heater although plug was working but very coked up, not showing any codes, battery voltage now showing good but still the heater doesn’t work,
Could it be the ecu? I’ve heard they can be problematic, where is it located?

Fancied the V8 instead of the awful TD6 lol.

I’ve got the remote and also the timer, both do the same, fan starts and stays on for a few minutes then goes off, when I use the remote it stays flashing for the full 30 minutes but the heater doesn’t stay on for long and only blows cold air into the cabin.
Occasionally the heater will start but goes off again after a few minutes, and if the heater is actually working the fan doesn’t blow.

I’ve even tried a known good unit to see if it’s my heater but both do the same,
It did smoke a lot on the odd time that it worked but doesn’t do that since I serviced it.
Ive got a mates car that he’s happy to let me swap bits over to test so thinking I’ll do the same for the ecu but no idea where to locate it?

From what I can make out the control ecu for the fbh is on the heater itself.

Linked in with the ac control for some signals I think.

Do you not have a manual?

Not sure if it will help on your car but this is how I recently got my FBH working on my freelander. I guess the fbh is similar. Quite a lot of test/strip/test/repeats but it now is working reliably:

Those FBH's can be a PITA I used to get asked to sort them on boats, one of the main problems was the glow plug, but the innards seemed to be well coked up so that the ECU didn't know if the thing was alight or not.

There was a fair bit off “from what I can see” & “I think” in there:) having not had to delve into ours yet.

Last manual in the Range Rover section. Heating and cooling section.

There are others around but not sure what year you have, but seems not changed much through the years.

There was indeed! It was because it was the first time that I had opened or fixed one of those FBH’s. I enjoyed working it out. It’s still working as well!

No I wasn’t ref your work, it was a little chit chat between me and Mark.

What you did was good and if it’s still working even better, a good win and learning is always a good feeling. Also great that you documented it for others.
