plumb it all up as it should be change ya fuel filter blow ya lines out, clean out the sedimenter (if fitted) and crank it over it will start if your main pump is ok lift pump is mainly there for higher revs higher loads
200's and 300's self bleed so tow start or crank it over until it does
if it dont go back to the place you purchased the lift pump and ask for another
But first slacken right off or take off the fuel supply pipe at the injection pump - that's the fuel pipe furthest back, away from the drive end.
Now turn the engine over - yes or no, does fuel spurt out of the open end of the pipe?
If not, work backwards from there, and FIRST try to ensure the pipes on the lift pump are connected the right way round. Some replacement pumps have the INLET on the WRONG SIDE from the original. CHECK THAT FIRST, then work backwards towards the tank.
If you don't get anywhere, put a litre of fuel in a plastic bottle and connect it to the INLET side of the fuel pump. Now work the priming lever.
If the pipe in the bottle BUBBLES, it is connected to the OUTLET side of the pump. If it sucks fuel up (you will see the level go down) set about BLEEDING the FUEL FILTER and then right up to the pump, then slacken all the injector pipes at the injectors (half a turn is quite enough) and turn the engine on the starter. Fuel should spill at the loose injector nuts. Now tighten them up and start the engine.
