i get my oil 1200 ltrs at a time now wolf. Give me a shout if you want some. Much cheaper (even after filtering etc down to 1 micron) than buying it from the shop.

Mines currently running on chili and garlic scented extra virgin olive oil from a salad factory! :D
Does it sound nerdy that I would sort of like to see your filtration and storage setup? I don't even have a diesel any more.

Ask for it and give the right paperwork, you may be lucky and get some.
But generally getting a good collection round takes some time and effort.

Is it a TDI engine? I been filtering waste veg oil - I got 120 litres to use! Do they run OK on it long term?

I dunno. A waste license I suppose. I buy mine from a chap that works there. He gets given it by the factory. Everyone's a winner that way :) I dewatering it and run it through a 1 micron filter (cold) and I pick up next to no bits. It's fantastic oil. Through a big sock filter at 1 micron I'd say it takes 30 secs or so to filter a 20 ltrs container.

Getting a centrifuge though as sock filters is ming...

Just found Macro have thin veg oil at 77.5p a litre (£15.49 for 20l plastic tubs or £15.79 for 20l steel drums). I've used this same stuff before and it worked really well...

That's what I use in my TD5 with no issues. Smokes a tad when starting from cold but no problem after a few minutes warm up. That stuff is soya. Rape does seem to smoke less and makes for easier starting during proper cold weather. I mix with 5-10% stale petrol during winter but run 100% now until end of September-ish. Not bought diesel for over two years now. :)

Not for some time now. Got to be more hassle than it was worth collecting and filtering etc. My source also sold up and the new owner wanted paying for it despite the fact that he had to pay to have it collected if I did not take it. Now running 100% veggie from Costco and sold my filtration stuff on fleabay. Much cleaner and less aggro with no sludge to dispose of or water to separate. Was fun while it lasted though and saved me a bundle.

I tried it awhile back in my 200tdi conversion. Filtered it down to 1 micron using filter bags. Cut it with petrol and mixed with about 50/50 diesel. Run great for a couple of days, then got smoke you wouldn't believe. Still ran great though. Shame as I can still get as much UEO as would ever need.:( cheers anyway Shifty.
