Unfortunately Dopey is right, when I came back from Africa, they were happy to dole out all sorts of assistance just from a phone call until they found out I was a white honkey, then it all stopped.

I think a few people on here need to get out and look around them. There is very just cause for some of the comments made. Why do people think they are queing up to get in here. This country is a soft touch it is about time it ended. Look at the rules covering disability living allowance or attendence allowance and wonder why so many elderly Asian dependents are wheeled into this country every week to claim it on the the airport as they arrive. Then a member of the family claims carers allowance. It is a bloody disgrace. They are taking the **** out of anyone who has worked here all their life and paid their taxes and national insurance. They come and get it for nothing. People have every right to be upset about it.
 
ive paid in (nat ins etc + 20 years working for nhs) all my life, but now when i need the help i cant get any, they say my wife earns £40 a YEAR to much to get the £57 a week that income support pays !!!!!!, cant get free school meals for the kids, free perscriptions etc etc, so how the hell do some of these people claim thousands a month in benefits ?????

no wonder people make comments like these is it

Quite correct there are millions of pounds paid every month to the dependents of European people working in this country. Dependents who have never set foot here never mind paid any dues. It is a bloody disgrace and should be stopped. They need to work here for a year then they can claim for dependents living abroad, no proof that they actually exist is ever sought.

Thats why there are camps full of illegals at Calais & Dunkerque just waiting to cross the channel. The local Mayor thinks the UK govenment is mad handing out houses and cash to them, he reckons there would be no camps if the handouts stopped. An Afghan interviewed on French TV said he wanted to go to the UK "because there was nothing for him in France" i.e. no handouts. They are supposed to claim asylum in the first safe coutry they reach, but they won't do it in France, the benefits are better in the UK with no chance of being sent back. It's a joke.

I totally agree with you mate. If it is done by our government to follow European law why do other european countries not do it. Because they look after their own first that's why. In Britain we look after everybody other than our own. What the bloody hell are we doing letting Afgans in here anyway. Of course the frogs are only too happy to pass them on. As were all the other european countries they passed through on the way to France. We are being raped and we are racist if we complain about it. Time to get real i think.
 
A few years back, a boat carying refugees got into trouble in the Med. At first the French would not let the boat into any port, that is until the international (ie UK) media started kicking up. In the end the let the boat into port, fed and clothed the refugees and gave train tickets to Calais. Not much in the media about that.
 
My uncle and his wife have just returned to the UK after living in spain for 15 years. They are close to retirement age, have some health issues and want to use the NHS.

They own a house in Spain.

They were assigned a case worker..for the last 3 months they've been travelling back and forward to see him and sort things out. In 1st interview they raised concerns named above..i.e. would they be treated worse than so called immigrants. Their case worker looked at them and said 'this is a myth, of course you will be treated the same, if not as more of a priority, you are nationals''.

They have now been offered 4 different places to live. They have settled on a 2 bedroom bungalow in a really good area (Gt Haywood, Sean will know it)..

So...don't believe all you hear/read.

I have a letter from the DHSS that says I am not entitled to NHS treatment if I return to the UK until I have been there for 6 months.
Why anyone would go to the UK for NHS treatment is beyond me, both my Father and Mother died at the hands of the NHS due to negligance/neglect:mad:
If they own a house in Spain they should not be entitled to housing benefit, so careful what you say.
 
Datatk..i'm sorry to hear about your family but you cannot make such a sweeping generalisation about the NHS.

It really is considered the worlds best...maybe i'm biased after working in it for 8 years before i left the Uk.

As for my relatives, they've done everything by the book.

storm,my wifes family did everything by the book when her mum had to go into a home to be looked after.they used all her savings to care for her @ £525/week,when this had all gone the council came in and said sorry but you do not meet the criteria for staying here any longer,ie they do not want to pay for her now her money has all gone.after a few arguments etc they finally said she could stay,but we know they will try again one day to get her out of there.
 
There's always going to exceptions/mistakes/faults in any system..I was just putting across my experience because the thread got to be quite negative..

The case manager said that they did not have to sell the house in spain, so they haven't..i'm sure if they had 200k in the bank it'd be a different story though.

i'm sure that they have not taken the house in spain into consideration though storm,like data said,be carefull.

The NHS rates below Rumania, Estonia and others in the care league, France is in the top 3, one of the reason I am here. Watch the news, Basildon, Stoke on Trent, the list of hospitals with poor care records goes on and on. Once again the British disease of poor management and of course political interferance. I could go on but it's pointless, the NHS will never work in it's current form, it's human nature. If your income is the same whether you treat anyone or no one why bother? Gp's get paid for the number of people on their panel, not by patients treated, no rush eh?
Consultants get a fat NHS salary but are allowed to effectively work on the black taking private patients, why bother too much about the NHS patients. The whole thing is a joke, a money pit.:mad:
